Two offensive linemen and a role-playing wide receiver
are among the re-signings announced today by the Saints.
All three were set to hit the open market on Friday at 12:01am.
Starting LG for the past two years, G Jamar Nesbit arrived as
a career journeyman and has evolved into the elder statesman of
a very successfull offensive line. The ultimate utilityman has
anchored the left side of the line for a stable Saints rotation.
Nesbit will have base salaries of $1 million, $1.9 million and
finally $1.9 million in 2010.
Also re-signing is one of his linemates, G Jonathan Goodwin,
who is a backup guard and center for the team. Goodwin filled
in for center Jeff Faine in a key position during two games this
season, both impressive victories and offensive performances in
San Francisco and at home against Jacksonville. Goodwin also started
two games in the 2007 preseason and participated in every game
over the past two seasons for the Saints.
WR Terrance Copper's re-signing returns a key special teamer
and a tough competitor at receiver who followed Sean Payton from
Dallas to New Orleans in 2006. Copper have five starts and five
touchdowns over the past two seasons, one of those starts was
in the NFC Championship game in 2007 when he finished with three
catches for 29 yards.

Offseason 2008.
