*EXCLUSIVE UPDATES ON QUARTERBACK WORKOUTS:

CALIFORNIA (March 17th) according to senior quarterback AARON RODGERS he will only be doing positional and passing drills at his workout on Thursday... as he is confident in his Combine and first Pro Day results in the 40-yard dash and other drills... one of our staff members will be speaking with him shortly after his workout, so a full report on his workout should be available in either Friday or our weekend update.

UTAH (March 16th) junior quarterback ALEX SMITH met with officials of the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday night, and will meet with officials of the Miami Dolphins early this morning before his Pro Day workout... he will be throwing to several former Utes teammates, including running back Marty Johnson, wide receiver Steve Savoy and wide receiver Paris Warren... senior offensive guard CHRIS KEMOEATU had a private workout with Dallas on Monday, while senior defensive tackle SIONE POUHA had a private workout with Dallas on Monday, as well, and will be having a private workout with Miami later on today, led by Dolphins defensive line coach Dan Quinn... senior safety MORGAN SCALLEY will look to run the 40-yard dash for scouts again later today.

PRO DAY RESULTS & UPDATES (Up to March 15th):

FLORIDA STATE (March 15th) senior offensive tackle ALEX BARRON ran between 4.85 and 4.88 in the 40... some had him faster (4.82), while others had him slower (4.92)... 4.62 short shuttle... 38" vertical... but only 21 reps of 225 pounds... did not do any other drills besides positional... weighed in at 6074, 312 pounds... while many would agree that they ran on a faster than normal rubber track the worst you could convert his times to would be 5.00 range... Cleveland, Seattle and St. Louis seemed to pay close attention to his workout... senior defensive end/outside linebacker ERIC MOORE ran between 4.61/4.68 and 4.71/4.75 in the 40... 34.5" vertical, which was much improved from the 29" vertical he did at the Combine... 4.40/4.48 short shuttle... 8.20/8.40 three-cone, but was satisfied with his results in those drills at the Combine, so he did not push to run them hard... weighed in at 6042, 261 pounds today, seven pounds less than at the Combine, but was dealing with Flu-like symptoms most of last week... was impressive in his drills... did only defensive end drills today, since they only had one linebacker in attendance... so individual teams said they might want to send a position coach (linebacker) to look at him further... Miami's Rick Spielman spent extra time with him after the workout reviewing game film... has seen greater attention from Cleveland, Dallas, Jacksonville, Miami, NY Jets and Pittsburgh between the Combine and his Pro Day... most have mentioned that they have him rated as a first day selection, ranging from late second round to third round... senior defensive tackle TRAVIS JOHNSON ran between 4.89 and 4.92 in the 40... some teams had him with slower times (4.95/4.98)... 4.42 short shuttle... 7.48 three-cone... 34" vertical... 8'7" broad jump and also did 23 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6037, 296 pounds... had a bit of an awkward moment with a member of the Minnesota Vikings, as he as he hit everything but his hands during a drill that is purposely suppose to have the defender knock the person's hands down... so while he was very aggressive, a lot of people said he was not disciplined and a little hard-head, as he seemd to get angry with the coach, and accidentally hit him in the face during the drill, since he was so off the mark... Atlanta, Cleveland and Seattle seemed to pay close attention to his workout... senior cornerback BRYANT MCFADDEN ran between 4.41 and 4.48 in the 40... some reported faster times (4.37)... 39.5" vertical... 11'3" broad jump... Jacksonville and Minnesota seemed to keep a close eye on his workout... senior wide receiver CRAPHONSO THORPE ran between 4.39 and 4.45 in the 40... some reported faster times (4.36)... senior offensive tackle RAY WILLIS ran between 5.12 and 5.20 in the 40... Cleveland and Detroit seemed to keep a close eye on his workout... senior safety JEROME CARTER ran between 4.51 and 4.55 in the 40... has very good straight-line speed, but less effective in the agility drills... senior defensive end/linebacker CHAUNCEY DAVIS ran between 4.75 and 4.81 in the 40... 22 reps of 225 pounds... senior wide receiver/defensive back DOMINIC ROBINSON ran between 4.60 and 4.64 in the 40... senior wide receiver CHAUNCEY STOVALL ran between 4.61 and 4.65 in the 40... senior quarterback CHRIS RIX ran between 4.53 and 4.58 in the 40... senior safety B.J. WARD ran between 4.42 and 4.45 in the 40... 11'1" broad jump... he decided to pass on seeking a medical red-shirt from the NCAA, since he missed most of this past season due to ankle/back injuries... senior cornerback LEROY SMITH ran between 4.42 and 4.49 in the 40... 38" vertical... senior offensive guard BOBBY MEEKS ran between 5.00 and 5.08 in the 40... senior defensive end CHARLES HOWARD ran between 4.85 and 4.88 in the 40... 22 reps of 225 pounds... senior linebacker RAY PIQUION ran between 4.72 and 4.78 in the 40... 38" vertical... senior safety CLAUDIUS OSEI ran between 4.65 and 4.68 in the 40... defensive back GERARD ROSS ran between 4.51 and 4.58 in the 40; he's listed as a red-shirt junior, but school officials did not respond immediately to our question of whether he was running early for next year's class or had passed on returning to school.

PITTSBURGH (March 15th) senior offensive lineman ROB PETITTI ran between 5.48 and 5.55 in the 40... weighed in at 6054, 340 pounds... which is a big positive, since he has lost over 20 pounds, since the Senior Bowl... he is still bothered by a lingering turf toe problem that kept him from working out at the Combine... will attempt to better his 40-times on March 29th, which will also take place at the school's indoor facility... senior defensive tackle DANIEL STEPHENS ran between 5.12 and 5.20 in the 40... most recently weighed 6016, 295 pounds... over-achiever type with average athletic ability... but shows some small area quickness... plays the game the way you want out of an interior defender... scrapper type with PFA grade... senior defensive tackle VINCE CROCHUNIS ran between 5.32 and 5.40 in the 40... which is much slower than the 5.10 estimate from last spring... most recently weighed 6033, 295 pounds... several other senior prospects worked out, but none are considered to be true NFL caliber prospects... there are a lot of teams who will be keeping tabs on Pitt's NCAA basketball tournament lifespan, as they would like to see senior forward CHEVON TROUTMAN be available to workout on March 29th if they were to get ousted from the tournament before then.

NORTHERN ARIZONA (March 15) senior running back ROGER ROBINSON ran between 4.36 and 4.41 in the 40... 4.10 short shuttle... 7.00 there-cone... 38.5" vertical... 9'7" broad jump and also did 19 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 5091, 202 pounds... had a very impressive physique, as he has been training with coach Chip Smith at CES in Atlanta leading up to his Pro Day... some teams have also seen him as a possible return specialist, and have been looking at additional game film on him to evaluate his hands out of the backfield... has positioned himself to be taken in the late rounds with this workout.

VALDOSTA STATE (March 15th) senior quarterback FABIAN WALKER, who transferred from Florida State for his final campaign, ran between 4.62 and 4.66 in the 40, while working out as part of Florida State's Pro Day... showed good athleticism during the individual drills, but was inconsistent with his accuracy and showcased an average to slightly above-average arm strength... however, he was equally as effective in the passing drills, as Chris Rix, with whom he was trading snaps with during the morning workout.

BOWLING GREEN (March 15th) senior wide receiver JAMES HAWKINS ran between 4.56 and 4.59 in the 40... which was faster than the 4.65 estimate from last spring... 33" vertical... 9'6" broad jump and also did 23 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6013, 220 pounds.

PITTSBURG STATE, KS (March 15th) senior quarterback/tight end NEAL PHILPOT ran between 4.90 and 4.95 in the 40... 4.61 short shuttle... 7.48 three-cone... 30.5" vertical... 9'1" broad jump... worked out at both positions, but most agreed that he would be a conversion to possibly tight end/H-Back/fullback... better football player than workout guy... very good intangibles... strong leadership skills... showed good hands as a receiver, but his routes and learning curve for running/lining up at a new position makes him a raw tools type guy... 12-15 teams were in attendance, but Dallas seemed to pay him some additional attention.

FLORIDA A&M (March 14th) senior quarterback BEN DOUGHERTY ran between 4.71 and 4.73 in the 40... 7.31 three-cone... was satisfied with his results in the other drills he did at the Combine... weighed in at 6024, 214 pounds... has lost eight pounds, since the Combine, but has been fighting some flu-like symptoms the past week-to-ten days... did a full positional workout... threw the ball very effectively... had only one dropped pass... has drawn additional interest from Atlanta, Buffalo, Detroit, Indianapolis, New Orleans, NY Giants, NY Jets, Tennessee and Washington between the Combine and his Pro Day... having called his own plays in college and the attention to detail that teams have seen out of him when watching game film with him may now allow him to move up closer to the 5th round than 6th-or-7th.

CINCINNATI (March 10th) senior defensive tackle MICHAEL WRIGHT (#93) ran between 4.80 and 4.82 in the 40... some had him as fast as 4.76... not surprising, as our staff had him between 4.80/4.83 in the 40 last spring at a similar weight (290)... 35" vertical... 10'0" broad jump... weighed in at 6037, 295 pounds... looked very athletic in his positional drills... it will not be surprising to hear his name called in the late rounds of next month's draft.

MOREHEAD STATE (March 10th) senior cornerback CHARLES BYRD (#23), who worked out at Miami, OH's Pro Day... ran between 4.40 and 4.45 in the 40... 1.57 10-yard... 3.99 short shuttle... 6.99 three-cone... 11.21 60-yard shuttle with a slip... 37.5" vertical... 10'2" broad jump and 11 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 5105, 195 pounds... a lot of teams have asked for additional game film on him to review, as most had estimated his times in the mid-to-late 4.5 range, but came away impressed by his workout numbers and performance in positional drills... will be available to workout once again on March 31st at 2pm.

INDIANA (March 9th) senior wide receiver TRAVIS HANEY (#80) rolled his left ankle, while running the 40-yard dash, but still crossed the line at 4.60/4.65... was not able to complete any of the shuttle or positional drills... had 37.5" vertical... 10'7" broad jump... weighed in at 6044, 217 pounds... currently, he is rehabbing the ankle, which had no structural damage, but just a very bad sprain... he may be available again before the draft... but had been timing between 4.48 and 4.55 in the 40, while training for the event... caught 16 passes for 274 yards and one touchdown, averaging 17.4 yards per catch... saw limited action until his senior year, but averaged 18.4 yards per catch during his first three seasons, including 22.0 yards per catch, as a junior... long, rangy kid who has a bit of a long stride, but a lot of room to develop... carries his weight well right now; does not look as big as he appears... could easily carry 220-225 pounds... PFA type whose best football seems to be in front of him... please contact his player rep for additional information.

STANFORD (March 9th) senior defensive/offensive lineman WILL SVITEK ran between 4.90 and 4.98 in the 40... 32" vertical and also did 33 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6064, 305 pounds... 32" arms... 9 3/4" hands... has been solely concentrating on working on his footwork, as an offensive tackle... plans to continue working on drills, footwork and watching game film on OT's leading up to the draft... most in attendance feel that under the guidance of an NFL strength and conditioning program that he can grow into a 320-325 pound offensive tackle over the next two-to-three years... his smarts, willingness to learn and the fact that he can flash a bit of a nasty streak, but play with calm, aggression should help his conversion to the offensive side of the ball... senior linebacker DAVID BERGERON ran between 4.57 and 4.62 in the 40... 4.19 short shuttle... 6.91 three-cone... 34" vertical... 30 7/8" arms... 9 1/8" hands... weighed in at 6027, 241 pounds... being evaluated by teams at a number of positions, which has led to a rise in his popularity... some see him as a possible 3-4 ILB, while others have him as a versatile 4-3 defender that could play middle or strong-side.

WISCONSIN-LACROSSE (March 8th) senior linebacker DUSTIN POWELL (#55) ran between 4.44 and 4.48 in the 40... 4.34 short shuttle... 7.07 three-cone... 34" vertical... 9'7" broad jump and also did 19 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6006, 244 pounds, which is nearly ten pounds heavier than last spring... was equally fluid and athletic in his positional drills... set the school's new record for career tackles, passing Mike Maslowski (Kansas City)... being evaluated as both a WLB and ILB... although most think he would be a better ILB in a 3-4 scheme... should also be very productive on special teams... senior offensive line/tight end ANDREW MCGLENN (#72) ran between 4.95 and 5.00 in the 40... 4.80 short shuttle... 7.48 three-cone... 29" vertical... 8'9" broad jump and also did 15 reps of 225 pounds... weighed in at 6030, 270 pounds, but played his senior year at 286 pounds... did various positional drills; tight end, center, guard and even defensive line... two teams, Green Bay and Seattle, were in attendance for this workout.

ALABAMA STATE (March 8th) senior safety ROCK DILLON ran 4.60 in the 40... which was a big improvement from 4.75/4.80 range from the HBCU All-Star Classic... 4.38 short shuttle... 7.50 three-cone... 37" vertical... 32" arms... 8 1/4" hands... 12 on the Wonderlic... weighed in at 5110, 207 pounds... has not had any issues with his right ankle (torn ligaments in 2003)... will also be working out for scouts at Memphis' Pro Day on March 24th... senior wide receiver REGGIE GLOVER did not workout, as he will be medically cleared the first week of April to workout for scouts... ran between 4.50 and 4.53 in the 40 at the HBCU All-Star Classic... 33 3/4" arms... 8 1/4" hands... weighed in at 6003, 183 pounds... 20 on the Wonderlic... all of those results also came at the HBCU All-Star Classic... senior safety D.J. SANDS ran 4.51 in the 40... 4.34 short shuttle... 7.25 three-cone... 34" vertical... weighed in at 6000, 207 pounds.

UTAH (March 7th) senior running back MARTY JOHNSON ran 4.70 in the 40... 4.32 short shuttle... 6.88 three-cone... 11.72 60-yard shuttle... 30.5" vertical, but did so raising just one arm to set the base, so most would credit him with about 33"... 9'2" broad jump and also did 23 reps of 225 pounds... 30 3/4" arms... 9 1/4" hands... weighed in at 5116, 236 pounds... he will catch passes from quarterback Alex Smith on Wednesday... our staff will also have an "Exclusive" update on Johnson's previous off-field issues in our next update... senior safety MORGAN SCALLEY ran 4.59 in the 40... 3.99 short shuttle... 6.84 three-cone... 11.28 60-yard shuttle... 36.5" vertical, but did so raising just one arm to set his base, so most would credit him with 38-39"... 10'1" broad jump and also did 18 reps of 225 pounds... 29 1/2" arms... 9" hands... weighed in at 5100, 199 pounds... all times were recorded on the school's new indoor Field Turf surface, which was soft and led to slower times.

NORTHERN ILLINOIS (March 7th) senior outside linebacker/defensive end TRAVIS MOORE (#56) pulled up on his 40-yard dash with a strained quad... weighed in at 6001, 247 pounds, which is down from 267 pounds, as he looks to converted to OLB from defensive end, although outside linebacker was his natural position... two-time All-MAC choice... has proven to be a steady provider of pressure on opposing quarterbacks... will perform a full workout for scouts on April 13th along with senior wide receiver/return man DAN SHELDON... senior offensive guard MATTHEW MCGHOGHY (#71) ran between 5.19 and 5.22 in the 40... 4.49 short shuttle... 7.50 three-cone... 29.5" vertical... 8'6" broad jump and also did 23 reps of 225 pounds... missed the 2003 season due to an off-field issue... came back to earn the highest grade of any NIU lineman, as a senior... former all-state basketball player... received a lot of extra attention after his workout, as he was relatively unknown prior to then...senior offensive lineman JAKE VERSTRAETE, who we reported on in our last update, may also workout on April 13th.

PRO DAY SCHEDULE NEWS & NOTES:

LAMBUTH, TN (March 23rd) senior offensive tackle STEFAN RODGERS (#55) will be working out for scouts that day... played basketball for two years, while also initially being a tight end before moving to left tackle... was named first-team All-MSC, as an offensive lineman, as a senior... recently had a private workout with Chicago, has another arranged with Houston (March 25th) and also has at least one private visit scheduled, as well for early April... currently, he is 6050, 308 pounds... our staff has contacted his player rep about obtaining additional game film, as we only had Bethel College, Georgetown (KY) and Virginia-Wise... senior defensive lineman JOHN THOMPSON (#94) will also be working out that day, as well.

MCMASTER (CAN) senior running back JESSE LUMSDEN has notified CFL officials that he will not be attending this weekend's CFL Combine... but he has yet to find an actual Pro Day event to attend, although he has been training in Arizona... there has been some speculation that he will either setup a Pro Day closer to the draft, but up in Canada or may get cleared to workout at Arizona State's Pro Day on April 6th, as a special circumstance, since he is a Canadian college prospect and not NCAA sanctioned athlete... he weighed in at 6022, 221 pounds... 31 3/8" arms and 9 1/2" hands at the East-West Shrine Game... school officials have said that he ran in the 4.4 range for the team last summer.

ST. MARY'S (CAN) senior defensive back SEBASTIAN CLOVIS (#34) will be working out at this weekend's CFL Combine... he is likely one of the top-rated Canadian defensive prospects for this year's CFL Draft, but might also draw some attention from NFL teams, as a safety... he is 6011, 205 pounds... has been timed between late 4.5's to early 4.6 range... would be considered more of a free safety for the NFL game, but would be more versatile in the CFL defensive schemes.

ALBANY (GA) senior wide receiver/return man ALVIN JACKSON (#3) has not been able to locate or schedule a Pro Day event for himself over the past few weeks... he was 5117, 172 pounds... ran between 4.69 and 4.73 in the 40 at the HBCU All-Star Classic... 32 1/2" arms... 8 1/2" hands... 16 on the Wonderlic... has been timed much faster in previous workouts... had 33 catches for 488 yards and three touchdowns, as a senior... returned 36 punts for 390 yards... might also be able to play some cornerback... he's a native of Mississippi, but is also in the Atlanta area if necessary, please contact our staff if you are able to schedule or advise him of a Pro Day to attend.

ALBANY, NY (March 17th, 28th) senior linebacker/safety KURT CAMPBELL has already has a private workout with St. Louis scheduled, but has seen additional interest from Baltimore, Carolina, Dallas, Detroit, Green Bay, Indianapolis and Miami leading up to his Pro Day events... besides his first two dates, Campbell will also be available to workout on April 8th, please contact his player rep for additional information.

ALBANY, NY (March 17th, 28th) will likely have representatives from between 8-12 teams, including Buffalo, Dallas, Houston, Miami, NY Giants and St. Louis, at either one or both of their Pro Day events over the next two weeks, while Indianapolis will be in attendance on April 8th.

VANDERBILT (March 23rd) senior wide receiver BRANDON SMITH (#80), who ran between 4.36 and 4.40 in the 40 at Tulane's Pro Day recently... many teams have been trying to chase down additional game films to further evaluate his skill level... Tennessee (2004), as well as Mississippi State (2003) and Georgia Tech (2003) would serve as good candidates for film review.

VIRGINIA TECH (March 17th) will hold its Pro Day on Thursday... senior wide receiver/return man RICHARD JOHNSON could be the surprise prospect of the day, as he has been running early-to-mid 4.4's (1.51/1.53 10-yard times), while training for the event... senior defensive back VINCENT FULLER is healthy again (hamstring), as he did not get to run the 40-yard dash or do any other drills at the Combine... he intends to do a full workout on Thursday... senior cornerback ERIC GREEN, who ran in the 4.6 range at the Combine, ran a 4.50, while others working on their starts (first 10-yards) for the coaching staff in Blacksburg, VA on Tuesday... senior defensive lineman JIM DAVIS, senior offensive tackle JON DUNN and senior quarterback BRYAN RANDALL will also be in attendance and plan to workout, although Dunn may not be able to bench press due to a strained pectoral muscle.

SAN DIEGO STATE (March 19th) junior outside linebacker MATT MCCOY (#43) will be working out that day... he is one of the most under-rated defensive players in this year's draft... he is currently 6004, 237 pounds, which is up 12 pounds from this past season, but is still running in the 4.5 range... already has five private visits scheduled even before his Pro Day... while an additional four teams have already been in to work him out... senior safety JOSHUA DEAN has been running between 4.48 and 4.55 in the 40, while training for his Pro Day.

BOSTON COLLEGE (March 23rd) will hold a Pro Day on that day, which will also feature MASSACHUSETTS senior fullback RICH DEMERS (#40)... he played for current Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback coach Mark Whipple in 2003, where he saw extended action with the ball in his hands... with the coaching change, he received less attention in the offense, but could be one of this year's true Pro Day "Workout Warriors"... he has been consistently doing 40-and-up-to-45 reps of 225 pounds and sub-4.6 40-times, while training for his Pro Day, while weighing 6006, 258 pounds... under-rated, as a receiver out of the backfield; 47 catches, including six touchdowns over the past two years... lost only 31 yards on 169 rushing attempts over that same period of time.

VIRGINIA (March 23rd) senior fullback BRANDON ISAIAH (#32) has been running between 4.63 and 4.66 in the 40... which are better times than what our staff had for him last spring, 4.68/4.75... while also weighing 5110, 233 pounds, which is five pounds heavier than he was during the season... he has been mostly a role player and special teams guy during his college days... coaches say his hands are better than advertised, but that he is a guy that would need some reps in order to increase his experience, so a tour of duty in NFL Europe or secondary league might be in the cards for him initially.

MEMPHIS (March 24) will hold a Pro Day workout on that day, which will also feature ALABAMA STATE senior safety ROCK DILLON.

SAN JOSE STATE (March 24th) senior defensive end/linebacker TONY FICKLIN will be working out as part of Hawaii's Pro Day at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California... keep an eye on his results from that day, as he nearly out-produced every defensive lineman from the Combine in several areas at his first Pro Day, including bench press, vertical and 40-times.

SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT STATE (March 28th) will likely have representatives from between 15-18 teams, including Houstom, Miami, NY Jets and Philadelphia, at their Pro Day, as senior linebacker/defensive end SARTH BENOIT and senior quarterback MIKE ABATE workout that day.

MISSOURI senior wide receiver THOMSON OMBOGA (#87) and senior linebacker HENRY SWEAT (#46), both will be looking to workout for scouts between the last week of March and early portion of April, as they were unable to workout at the school's first Pro Day... Omboga pulled up on his 40-yard dash, while Sweat had tweaked his hamstring leading up to the event... we will have an official workout date for them in the coming weeks.

SAM HOUSTON STATE senior quarterback DUSTIN LONG will have had private workouts with both Minnesota and St. Louis by time next week ends.

TEXAS COLLEGE senior wide receiver/return man DONTAY SPILLMAN, who was originally recruited to Louisville, ran between 4.52 and 4.55 at his recent Pro Day, but was then turned down at the last minute, while hoping to workout as part of Louisville's Pro Day last week... he is now searching for another opportunity to workout for scouts/coaches... which could come at either his school in Tyler, Texas or in the Louisville area, which is his home town, please contact our staff if you have an opportunity for him to workout between now and the draft.

WISCONSIN senior safety/return man JIM LEONHARD, who missed both the East-West Shrine Game and NFL Combine because of a broken bone in his left foot, may not be able to perform for scouts/coaches before the NFL Draft, as there is now a chance that he will need an additional surgery in which a screw would be inserted in his foot, but after a 4-to-6 week rehab schedule he could be cleared in time for mini-camp... his actual injury was a stress fracture of the navicular bone in his left foot.
