The Saints have signed one of the most productive and experienced
defensive backs currently active in the NFL.
That is, to say, that he will be 36 in July and entering his
15th NFL season.
Fifth among active players in interceptions, Glenn played for
Saints defensive coordinator Gary Gibbs in Dallas in 2004. Before
that, he played for the Texans and Jets. He started his career
in 1994 as a first round pick of New York.
Glenn, 5'9, 183 pounds, played in Jacksonville last year, and
played against the Saints in the Superdome, when he recorded five
solo tackle and two assisted tackles. Glenn was inactive for both
the Jaguars' playoff games because of an ankle injury. He was
cut by the Cowboys on September 1, 2007 and signed two days later
by Jacksonville. He spent most of the season on the Jaguars' inactive
list as a healthy sit. He had undergone a minor knee scope in
July as a Cowboy.
Because of the timing of the signing, it is likely that the Saints
wanted to sign Glenn eventually but were informed that another
team also had interest. In the home stretch of their draft preparations,
most teams are not signing free agents at this time.
