Q: Can you talk about your decision to come out early? Just
what went into the decision to come out as a junior?
A: "It was a family decision. I was raised in a household
with 14 people and it's been rough on my mom. We felt it would
be the best decision for me to come out this year so I can help
support the family."
Q: You talk about this house, how big is this house that you
guys have 14 people living in?
A: "I mean it was hard it was real hard times growing up.
You couldn't get everything you want or eat what you wanted to
eat or how much you wanted to eat. It was rough supporting the
whole family and my mom was the strongest women trying to raise
a household of men."
Q: Now the first thing you redshirted meant that you could have
come out last year, did you even consider that?
A: "I thought about it a little bit, but we felt that I
needed one more year with the coaching staff and see what could
happen."
Q: As far as football is concerned, I heard that the Saints were
paying a lot of attention to you up in Pro Day at Nebraska. Did
you get that vibe from them that maybe they would be interested
in drafting you?
A: "Yeah, I felt a good vibe. I gave it all to the hands
of the Lord. I know if I go out and do the best that I can do
then good things will come to me."
Q: Talk about your strengths as a football player at the safety
position.
A: "I feel like I have great range and I can get the ball
no matter where it is. I have great speed, I can cover receivers,
I can play zone and I just have a good understanding of the game
as far as recognizing formations and making calls and making checks."
Q: As far as interceptions is concerned, you have a big dip this
year compared to your sophomore year is that just guys looking
out for you and opponents more aware of where you are on the field?
A: "I went through three different coaching changes and
three different coordinators. We were playing a lot of zone but
this year we were playing more man so my eyes were not always
on the ball so it was a different defense that slowed things down."
Q: The fact that you've had all these coaching changes I assume
that that's going to benefit to a certain degree how quickly you
are going to pickup a new system at the pro level?
A: "You have to recognize formations so quickly and make
check so quickly so I feel with the new staff that came in this
year it helped me out a whole lot as far as recognizing formations
and making a lot of checks."
Q: Can you talk about the relationship you have with your twin
brother?
A: "We grew up together and were very close, real close.
We felt like one day we'd go to the NFL at the same time, but
unfortunately it didn't happen that way. I'm closer to him than
I am to my mom or my two older sisters or anybody else."
Q: What was Daniel's reaction when you received the phone call?
A: "He was happy, jumping up and down all fired up. The
whole family was that way. Everybody was proud. It was the best
feeling me and my family has ever had up to this point."
Q: Were you able to have more than 14 people in the household
today to be with you?
A: "There was a lot more than that at the household watching
this whole thing go down. The people I have here I'm just fortunate
to have supporting me."
Q: Does your brother go back to Nebraska next year?
A: "Yes, he will."
Q: Will this be the first time you haven't been on the same football
team?
A: "Yes."
Q: Have you come to that realization about what that is going
to be like?
A: "We talked about it and we both have high expectations
for each other. It doesn't matter what team I'm on or what team
he is on we want each other to be the best player we can become.
We feel like we can sit apart and still go out and be the best
we can be."
