The Saints found three new defenders to add to the offeseason
roster during their rookies minicamp this past weekend, including
a pair of veteran linemen and an undrafted rookie linebacker.
Veteran DL Anton Palepoi, 29, 6'4, 297 pound former second
round pick of the Seahawks in 2002, was out of the league last
year. The Samoan born former UNLV product has four career sacks
in 35 games with three teams over four seasons. He lasted only
two years in Seattle before bouncing to Denver and Arizona.
Veteran DT Lance Legree, 29, 6'1, 300 pound former Giant,
Jet and 49er of six NFL seasons. Legree has seven career sacks,
134 career tackles over 77 games. This past offseason, Legree
was signed by the Bucs on March 7, only to be released on April
11. The former undrafted Notre Dame product is a poor man's
Hollis Thomas, in the fireplug form factor.
Undrafted rookie LB Desmond Sims played on the Arkansas Razorbacks
defense that saw three players drafted and more signed on the
undrafted market. The 6'3, 230 pound middle linebacker also
played outside and defensive end after switching from wide
receiver. In his career Sims had 15.5 tackles for loss and
6.5 sacks.
