WWL 870 A.M. and NOPF's Kenny Wilkerson reports about the first day of coaching sessions at the Saints practice facility on Airline Drive

Jonathan Sullivan isn't even close to being in football shape and looks at least 20 lbs overweight. A very fast tempo at practice had Sullivan fading fast.

One other sour note. Fred McAfee is officially not with the team anymore. Saints coach Jim Haslett did not rule out bringing him back down the line but it isn't likely since they will probably keep six wide receivers.

Ernie Conwell is back but not 100%. He did practice but not at full speed.

Donte Stallworth was ALL speed, and the only way to describe him is VERY HEALTHY, at least for now.

Jonathan Stinchcomb has bulked up considerably and Victor Riley has not missed many meals if you get my drift.

Aaron Brooks and Todd Bouman threw the ball well and threw it a lot downfield.

Some players commented that the offense has undergone a cleaning -- not a total rebuild but a good cleaning that opens things up. Joe Horn described it as "flexible."

But it's one thing to open it up in May....I want to see it opened up in December, Wilkerson commented.

Deuce looks great and Courtney Watson has already got a terrific grasp of the defense. Jason Craft looks like a Dale Carter clone but I am not sold on a player that was picked up for a 5th round pick. But Craft does have tremendous speed and went stride for stride with Devery Henderson several times.
