Saints Get Down to 75; Waive Five

The Saints have waived three players and
waived/injury two more to get down to the Tuesday
afternoon deadline of 75 players.
WR Todd Blythe, S Curome Cox, FB Kevin Dudley,
C Rob Hunt and P Waylon Prather have been waived. Cox (groin)
and Dudley (ankle) were injured at the time of their waiver.
Dudley caught a touchdown pass in preseason week
two. Prather's departure leaves Steve Weatherford the only punter
on the team. Hunt played for the New Orleans Voodoo in the spring.
The Saints must make 18 more cuts to get down to
53. The Saints have a international development program player
in RB Jermaine Allen.
Notes: Jim Haslett and the Rams
are interested in one-time Saint OL LeCharles Bentley. The second
round pick of the Saints and Pro Bowl during the Haslett administration
left the Saints in 2006 for a major pay raise in Cleveland. But
a torn patellar tendon and subsequent staph infection prevented
him from ever playing for the Browns... Former Saints CB Curtis
DeLoatch, who recovered Steve Gleason's blocked punt for the
first post-Katrina touchdown in the Superdome, was cut by the
