The Saints announced some picks on Friday and
will announce more on Saturday as the league's 53-man deadline
approaches.
Seventh round pick WR Adrian Arrington, the star
of the first week and a half of training camp before suffering
a turf toe injury in the preseason opener, has been placed on
injured reserve. Arrington has been unable to practice since
the injury, and marks the second of the Saints' 2008 draft class
to have his rookie season ended by injury.
Fourth round pick DT DeMario Pressley was placed
on injured reserve early in training camp, after aggravating
an old foot fracture.
Veteran safety Lance Schulters, a Saints only for
a matter of days, was cut by the team. The veteran journeyman
had six tackles and an interception in the last two preseason
games with the Saints, and wore the uniform for only 11 days.
The team also waived DE Jeremy Geathers, veteran
TE Ronnie
Ghent, rookie DE Marcus Pittman,
rookie S David
Roach,
G Isaiah Ross and T Brian Stamper.
Still to be decided are the Saints' lineup at wide
receiver, where Skyler Green and Lance Moore both remain on the
roster for now, and at placekicker where veteran Martin
Gramatica and rookie Taylor Melhaff have been competing.
The Saints must make 14 more cuts, their most difficult
by far, before 3pm on Saturday.
