Donte Stallworth, wide receiver, Tennessee

#13 - First Round (13th Overall)
WR Donte Stallworth, Tennessee - 6'0 - 197

With CB Philip Buchanon, WR Donte Stallworth, and DT Albert Haynesworth on the board, the Saints faced a difficult decision.

The choice was Stallworth, the muscular and super-speedy receiver from Tennessee. Buchanon went two picks later to Oakland, who had traded up, and Haynesworth went four picks later to Tennessee, who also traded up.

Stallworth is a solid pick and will be able to compete with Jerome Pathon for the #2 receiver spot. One of the other issues with Stallworth is his injury history. Stallworth has overcome a torn ACL in his knee and played his junior season in college (his final collegiate season) with cast on his hand from a broken wrist.

Stallworth caught the eye of the Saints when he consistently ran the 40-yard dash all offseason long in the 4.3 second range, including a 4.26 timing in a private workout, the fastest ever by a Tennessee Volunteer. Some scouts measured him at 4.18.
