LeCharles Bentley, guard/center, Ohio State

#12 - Second Round (44th Overall)

C/G LeCharles Bentley, Ohio State - 6'2 - 299

Winner of the Rimington Award as the nation's top-rated center, and named the starting center on the 2001 Walter Camp Football Foundation All-America Team.

Needs to be addressed here were outside linebacker, defensive back, and offensive line. Bentley is a solid pick and a very athletic player who can play both guard positions and center.

Tremendously strong player who did 38 reps of 225 pounds before scouts at the Combine.

He is the eventual heir to Jerry Fontenot's job as center, but as a rookie he should be able to compete with Spencer Folau for the starting right guard job.

The Saints made public only a few of their favorite players, and so far they have drafted all of them. Also has mean streak a la Kyle Turley.

Played some tackle in college but is not quick enough to move outside. Isn't the biggest interior offensive lineman but is a strong, mature, hard-nosed player that Jim Haslett must love.
