The first organized practice of the 2002-3 season starts this weekend for the Saints at their headquarters on Airline drive in Metairie, Louisiana.
All healthy players are expected to practice. WR Joe Horn may hold out of the minicamp because of a contract dispute. His attendance is not mandatory.
The Saints have added nearly a dozen major free agents this offseason, and have added many more rookie free agents or players who were not on a regular season roster in 2001. In addition to those players, the Saints drafted nine rookies.
"We have some seasoned veterans, guys who have been around here and know what to expect," said Jim Haslett, when asked about the minicamp. "But we have also added several new players. From that standpoint, the veterans should be able to take some of these younger guys under their wings and show them the ropes."
Two practices of the minicamp are open to the public. Practices at 3:45 pm on both Friday and Saturday are open to the public for free. Gates open at 2:00pm.
