TE Gilmore, WR Ojo Sign to Practice Squads

Saints 2002 sixth-round draft pick TE John Gilmore Jr. has been signed to the practice squad of the Chicago Bears, while 2001 fifth-round draft pick Onome Ojo has signed to the practice squad of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gilmore, out of Penn State, was left without a roster spot behind David Sloan, Boo Williams and Lamont Hall.  The Saints released Gilmore in the final roster cut this past Sunday.  Gilmore did not record a reception in preseason 2002.

Ojo, a raw, athletic receiver out of UC-Davis, was on the Saints active roster during his rookie season but was inactive for all 16 games.  This preseason Ojo faced stiff competition to make the roster, and had three receptions for 28 yards and a touchdown in preseason.  Ojo was cut in the final cutdown this past Sunday.

Players on a practice squad can be signed by any team, but only if they are on the active roster for three weeks.
