The Saints have four of the developmental league's six teams covered with their 2005 allocations, sending a total of eight players. Five of the allocations have been with the Saints in training camp before: T Ben Archibald, G Chad Setterstrom, S Brent Hafford, QB Chris Finlen, and WR Chris Vance. Finlen was also sent to the Barcelona Dragons in 2003 by the Saints.

Former Saints 7th round draft pick Derrius Monroe, a defensive end out of Virginia Tech, was drafted by Amsterdam in the 7th round of the free agent draft. Former Saints linebacker Travis Carroll, who was undrafted out of Florida and made the team as a special teamer, was drafted by Rhein in the 7th round of the free agent draft. NW Louisiana University WR Nathan Black, who was a training camp star last season with the Saints but did not make the final roster, was allocated to Rhein by the Washington Redskins. Former Saints draft pick T Mitch White will play for Cologne after being allocated by the Buccaneers.

Former LSU safeties Jack Hunt and Adrian Mayes will play to NFL Europe to play for the Berlin Thunder.

Two more former LSU safeties Norman LeJeune and Clarence LeBlanc will return to NFL Europe with the Rhein Fire. Former LSU G Rodney Reed was allocated to Hamburg by the Dolphins.

Other notable NFL Europe players this season will be former Bengals top 5 draft pick QB Akili Smith (Frankfurt) and former Heisman Trophy winner Eric Crouch (Hamburg).

Former New Orleans Voodoo and Saints training camp FB Dan Curran was not listed in any of the allocation lists.
