First Coach of Offseason Leaves Staff; Hobby to Duke

Assistant coach Marion Hobby has left Sean Payton's coaching staff for Duke University, the first assistant coach to leave this offseason.

Hobby worked for new Duke head coach David Cutliffe at Ole Miss and joined the Saints when Payton was hired as head coach.

The Saints' defensive line coach for the past two seasons, Hobby will serve as Duke's defensive coordinator and defensive line coach.

Hobby was one of many straight-from-college head coaches hired by Payton in 2006. Like Hobby, most of the Saints coaching staff had no prior pro coaching experience when he arrived in New Orleans.

Notes: Saints runningbacks coach George Henshaw is being considered for the offensive line job at West Virginia in Bill Stewart's new coaching staff... Former Saints offensive assistant coach Bob Palcic has been hired by UCLA as their new offensive line coach under new head coach Rick Neuheisel.
