The Saints have reduced their roster by three to get down to the Tuesday league deadline of 75 players.
DT Rod Coleman was released. The 33 year old former Raider and Falcon emerged from retirement this offseason and attempted a comeback with Saints defensive line coach Bill Johnson, who had worked with Coleman in Atlanta. The Saints signed Coleman in March of this year as a flier on past performance and the relationship with Johnson. It was clear that though that weeks into training camp, the Vicksburg, MS native still had the desire, he didn't have the stamina.
The Saints also waived with injury settlements: CB Greg Fassitt and WR D'Juan Woods.
Fassitt was picked up only two weeks ago but the Grambling product suffered a hamstring injury with the Saints. Woods suffered a neck injury two weeks ago and hadn't been able to recover. Both were considered long shots to make this team initially.
The Saints will reduce their roster to 53 players on Saturday.
