Notes from the Superdome and around the league

Not much Saints news today as the team practiced at the Superdome.
  • Reggie Bush says he is healthy and will play in Oakland. A San Diego native, Bush may have some family in the stands to give him extra incentive to appear on the field. Battling both a rehabilitating knee injury and a more recent calf strain, Bush has declared the knee recovered and both he and head coach Sean Payton have downplayed the calf strain.
  • Jermon Bushrod did surprising well against the Texans and fierce DE Mario Williams, starting at left tackle with Jammal Brown (sports hernia surgery) and Zach Strief (knee) out of commission. Strief may return to the field on Saturday but Bushrod will start.
Lots of former Saints in the news however:
  • The Panthers have signed former Saint starting safety Kevin Kaesviharn.
  • The Bucs have signed CB Darrell Hunter, who they say spent some time on the Saints' practice squad last season. It must have been brief.
  • Former Saints third round draft pick from the Haslett era G Andy Alleman has been traded from Miami to Kansas City.
  • Briefly a Saint, former CFL LB/DE Tearrius George has also now briefly been a Dolphin.
  • Though not a former Saint, Edgerrin James was rumored draw interest from New Orleans. James has signed in Seattle, removing one of the potential locations, for now, from Deuce McAllister's list.
