Porter injured in St. Louis

On the Rams' first drive of the second half, former Saints draft pick QB Marc Bulger hit WR Brandon Gibson on a six yard quick stop. Gibson shook free CB Tracy Porter, then FS Usama Young, before SS Roman Harper brought him down after a 20-yard gain.

Porter injured his left knee when a diving Young leg-whipped Porter in the hip of his planted foot. Porter grabbed his knee as he rolled to a stop on the ground and had to be carried off the field.

That forced rookie Malcolm Jenkins into the starting lineup, with only CB Leigh Torrence left at cornerback, and a once deep and once fast secondary has been worn down to the bottom of its lineup, with one remaining healthy starter, strong safety Roman Harper.

Porter was carted off to the locker room with his head in his hands, and may be lost mid-way through the season for the second year in a row.

CB Randall Gay started in the absence of Jabari Greer, out today with a groin injury.

Jenkins and Gay are not in the same heat when it comes to the speed of Greer and Porter. The Saints also appeared to move Usama Young from free safety to cornerback during the game, with Malcolm Jenkins lining up deeper.
