Irony drips from Cowboys' reactionary move

On December 6, Redskins kicker Scott Suisham missed a chipshot field goal wide right, preventing his home team from taking a 10-point lead with 1:56 left to play. That opened the door for the Saints to come back, tie the game and eventually win it.

Suisham was cut days later by the Redskins.

On December 19, Cowboys kicker Nick Folk missed a chipshot field goal by doinking the right crossbar, preventing his team from taking a 10-point lead with 2:19 left to play. That opened the door for the Saints to drive down the field for a tying score, but a sack forced fumble thwarted Brees.

Folk was cut by the Cowboys today, and here's the fun part: he was replaced on the roster by Suisham.

The two kickers that bought their own pink slips against the Saints this season will forever be intertwined in the bizarre fate and extraordinary luck that rests with the 2009 Saints.
