The Saints have released veteran CB Chris McAlister and signed free agent CB Marcus McCauley.
McAlister was inked three weeks ago when the Saints' crush on cornerbacks first started. The Saints played in Washington with only one healthy cornerback that started the season.
McCauley, 26, 6'1, 203, four years out of Fresno State, was a third round pick of the Vikings in 2007. He started nine games as a rookie but lost his starting job after a knee injury in 2008 and eventually his roster spot this past September, hopping to the Lions and the Bucs. McCauley has been a free agent since being cut by Tampa Bay on Nov 3 following a two week stint there.
Both McAlister and Mike McKenzie, veterans pulled off the street in recent weeks, played well against New England but were part of a poor defensive showing in Washington.
