The Saints have signed former Northwestern linebacker Prince Kwateng to their practice squad.
There may be more to come like this for the Saints, for Kwateng is a veteran of the inaugural season of the upstart fall football UFL, which has already started, finished and crowed its champion, Jim Haslett's Orlando Tuskers.
Kwateng played for the California Redwoods of the UFL. Kwateng was unable to sign an NFL deal until recently when the United Football League's first season ended.
Kwateng, 6'2, 235, was undrafted out of Northwestern in April. He ran a 4.72 40 at his pro day.
He wrote via Twitter that he was "Blessed to be part of the Saints organization!"
The team released QB Chase Daniel from its practice squad to make room, but Daniel could be back on the squad or the 53-man roster before Sunday.
