Starting left defensive end Charles Grant tore his triceps in the second quarter of Week 17's game in Carolina. He has been placed on injured reserve, ending his season, and will have surgery. Grant was likely not to have seen any action in the second half, so the timing of this injury is brutal.
The Saints have signed veteran DE Paul Spicer, who went to training camp with the Saints, to take Grant's place on the roster. Bobby McCray, DeMario Pressley, Jeff Charleston and Spicer will likely all see action at LDE.
Grant was lost to a torn left triceps injury midway through last season, after he suffered the injury in the London game against the Chargers.
