Melvin Mitchell, safety, Western Kentucky

#15 - Fifth Round (150th Overall)

FS Melvin Mitchell, Western Kentucky - 6'1 - 220

Part of an amazing secondary that small-school Western Kentucky had this past season. Teammates with CB Joseph Jefferson, a 3rd round pick that went to Indianapolis on Saturday, and Bobby Sippio.

Mitchell has started the past three years for the Hilltoppers and was the MVP of the defense his senior season. Also returned kickoffs for Western Kentucky, scoring once last season. Had 13 tackles in WKU's big game against Wisconsin.

Benched 225 pounds 15 times and ran a 4.55 in the 40, so he obviously has the measurables to play free safety. Started his college career as a cornerback. Three interceptions and nine pass defenses his senior season.

Played both offense and defense in high school and named all-conference on both sides of the ball.
