The Saints opened OTAs on Tuesday at their headquarters in Metairie, and a day when the city broke heat records at 94 degrees, warm enough for a late May beginning to on-field work.
The day prompted a flurry of activity on the the social media site Twitter.
New Saint DE Alex Brown, the ex-Bear but Florida alum and native, wrote: "Today was the hottest practice I have been apart of since 2001! And I am not kidding!! I am sure it will get better from here but WOW!! lol" Brown was a senior at UF in 2001.
Fellow Gator alum Bobby McCray agreed: "1st practice was a beast....just got in the car....and I'm sweating already"
Safety Roman Harper wrote on his Twitter account, "Man first day of ota's. Had a long break since our run too. Drew hit me with a sick dbl move today to cols. I never get to get a chance to forget how good they really are cause I practice against them in practice every freakin day."
Tracy Porter wrote: "Fininshed first day of OTAs and the Boom....I'm faded."
First round pick Patrick Robinson wrote: "Back to the room I go. I'm a lil tired"
Newly-signed fullback Jason McKie commented: "Woooow it's 400 degrees in N.O. ....I might weigh 200 pounds now after that practice"
Starting fullback Heath Evans chimed in with a quick injury report: "1st day of off-season practice= Felt gr8 to be back out there w/ the team & the knee is almost perfect! WHO DAT"
Lance Moore, practicing with an injury agreement and an unsigned RFA, wrote: "Back on the practice field today. Time to really start on our grind to defend our championship!!!"
Reggie Bush wrote: "First day of offseason practice! Feels good to be back! Let's go Saints!"
