The Saints and Texans are in the middle of two days of joint practices held at the Saints' headquarters in Metairie, Louisiana. After individual practice time on Friday, the teams will play their second preseason game on Saturday night in the Superdome.
Last year, the Saints and Texans practiced together in Houston, a fiery two days of joint practices/scuffles that ended with a dominating New Orleans exhibition victory, 38-14.
This year's go-around has been tamer so far, the first firsticuffs didn't happen until this morning, involving rookie center Matt Tennant and Texans DL Pannel Egboh.
No major injuries so far reported by the teams during the practices, but one other bit of notable move was that giant guard Carl Nicks was temporarily demoted to the second team, replaced by Terrence Metcalf for the morning sessions. Nicks, aggravated and motivated, was nevertheless back with the starters in the afternoon.
