Brees Named Sports Illustrated 2010 Sportsman of the Year

Saints QB Drew Brees has been named the Sports Illustrated 2010 Sportsman of the Year, the first player associated with the Saints organization to win the 57-year old annual award.

Brees is only the fifth NFL quarterback to win the award, first given to Roger Bannister in 1954.

For the 2009 season, Brees was awarded the Super Bowl XLIV MVP, the Maxwell Football Club's Bert Bell award winner, a Pro Bowl selection (which he did not play in because of the Super Bowl) and Sporting News All Pro selection.
