The Saints head to Carolina looking to meet their bye week with a two week break.
Not that we or they are looking ahead, but the Saints have a busy schedule after the bye.
The Saints play at home against the Seahawks on Nov 21, then four days later play the nationally-televised FOX afternoon game in Dallas.
Their next three opponents are a combined 6-15, with Carolina and Dallas each winning only one game. The Saints shouldn't take these opponents lightly. The Panthers always play the Saints tough, and the Cowboys last year ended the Saints' undefeated regular season run, though they will likely be without QB Tony Romo on Thanksgiving.
Sunday in Carolina, the Saints hoped to enjoy the return of both starting runningbacks Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush, but both were ruled inactive. Both starting cornerbacks did return and started, but fellow defensive backs S Pierson Prioleau and CB Patrick Robinson were ruled inactive.
LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar, the team's starting strongside linebacker, was a scratch from the game. The Saints thankfully enjoyed the healthy return of Scott Shanle to the lineup at weakside linebacker, but veteran journeyman Danny Clark will have to start in Dunbar's place.
TE Tory Humphrey and rookies OT Charles Brown and DE Junior Galette were also inactive.
UPDATE: Julius Jones got the start at runningback over Chris Ivory and Ladell Betts, and ripped off a 54-yard run on his first carry. Ivory carried the ball on the next snap.
