Saints sit bevy of key players against Seattle

Existing injuries forced the Saints to deactivated RB Pierre Thomas (long-term ankle injury of unknown severity), RB Reggie Bush (broken leg from Week 2), FS Malcolm Jenkins (stinger), CB Patrick Robinson (ankle), FS Darren Sharper (hamstring), and TE Jeremy Shockey (bruised ribs).

With Jenkins and Sharper out, Usama Young will start at free safety.   Ladell Betts, Chris Ivory and Julius Jones will share the load at runningback.

Bush was reportedly set to play against Seattle, but the Saints may be resting him for an important, short-week game against the Cowboys on Thursday.

Pierre Thomas' injured was reportedly a torn ankle ligament.

UPDATE: Sean Payton after the game denied that Thomas' injury is a torn ankle ligament.

LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar was also inactive, and was not on the injury report, a possible indication that veteran Danny Clark has supplanted him at strongside linebacker.

Rookie T Charles Brown was also inactive.
