Brees sets league, franchise marks

Today's 303 yard performance by Drew Brees in Cincinnati broke Archie Manning's franchise high mark of 21,734 passing yards.

In his 75 regular season games as a Saint, Brees now has 21,932 yards passing.  Archie Manning played in 134 games as a Saint.

“It means a lot because of the guy who is being passed as well as the many more that have come before me," Brees said today to the media.  "I feel like we’re building a strong tradition here. I play in an offense that throws quite a bite more than all of those guys did. It makes my job a lot of fun. It’s definitely something we can share as a team and an offense.”

With four games remaining, Brees has also broken a league mark.  No quarterback has passed for more yards in a five-year period in league history.

Brees has already broken team records for passing touchdowns (147), qualified completion percentage (67.1%), and completions (1909).
