RB Pierre Thomas, out since week three, is as close to getting back on the field as he has been since September. Though he is listed as questionable on the injury report, he hasn't been practicing fully.
Two other Saints runningbacks are also on the injury report. Reggie Bush's disastrous performance on Thanksgiving features a dropped touchdown pass, a fumbled punt and a Brees pass doink off his helmet. He played in only 14 snaps last Thursday, and will continue to be a limited role player until he proves he's back up to speed.
"Each week we’ll try to get him more and more work," Sean Payton said on Thursday. "When we went into that game, we knew that it was going to be our plan. You don’t know how many snaps you’re going to have or how many that will involve him, but we’ll continue to do that and definitely add more to his plate.”
Also, veteran backup RB Ladell Betts hasn't been practicing with a neck injury.
Meanwhile, last week the Bengals lost their kicker Mike Nugent to injury and replaced him with Aaron Pettrey. In two games, the rookie Pettrey was awful and was released this week. The Bengals have replaced him with another rookie kicker, Clint Stitser, who will make his first NFL appearance on Sunday.
