Saints starting middle linebacker and defensive team captain Jonathan Vilma and starting strong safety Roman Harper will play in the 2011 Pro Bowl after being named to the team due as injury replacements.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Vilma is replacing 49ers MLB Patrick Willis, who won't play in the game because of injury.
Harper is replacing Packer Nick Collins, who is ineligible to play in the Pro Bowl because of the Packers' Super Bowl bid.
In response to Harper's bad day in Seattle, Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was quoted by Larry Holder of CBS in defense of Harper at the Senior Bowl: "He had two bad plays this season and it just happened to come at the wrong time of the year. He’s a Pro Bowl safety. He’s one of our best football players."
The Pro Bowl is played this weekend in Hawaii.
Harper and Vilma join QB Drew Brees, RG Jahri Evans, and LG Carl Nicks.
