A press release announced today that the Bears and Bucs would play in London this season on October 23.
The release also stated that if a new CBA is not in place by August 1, the overseas game would be played in Tampa Bay.
This could represent the next big deadline for the league, which is under little pressure from football reasons to agree to a new deal. August 1 represents a deadline, missing it would result in the loss of significant exposure overseas, a loss of international revenue and perhaps the first real source of embarrassment for the league.
Negotiating down to the August 1 deadline would find the league having missed minicamps and the first week of training camps around the league, six days before the Hall of Fame game and preseason opener, but would be more than a month away from actually canceling games.
