Long snapper Kyle cut after failing physical

The Saints cut veteran Jason Kyle, 39 years old, after he failed his pre-camp physical test.

Kyle was the Saints' long snapper replacement for Kevin Houser and the man with the job for the first nine games of last season.

Last season, Justin Drescher was the Saints' long snapper from last November through the Saints' playoff game, seven games in all.  It appears that Drescher will be the man for the job in 2011 as well.

Drescher, a rookie last year entering the league undrafted with Atlanta, replaced Jake Ingram, who replaced Kyle in November of last season.

Drescher's competition on the roster so far are undrafted rookies Kyle Nelson from New Mexico State and Harry Flaherty from Princeton, though Flaherty is listed as a tight end.
