Two of the elder statesmen of the Saints' Gregg Williams defense have agreed to return to the Saints, and will be able to join training camp on August 4.
Veteran LB Danny Clark, 34, the ageless outside linebacker who has started 8 or more games eight times for five different teams over his career which began in 2000 with the Jaguars. Clark is in his second tour of duty for the Saints, having spent 16 games with the Saints in 2006, though starting none He re-joined the Saints in September 2010, and took over for struggling Jo-Lonn Dunbar at strongside linebacker midway through last season. Clark agreed to re-sign with the Saints on Friday.
Veteran safety Pierson Prioleau, 33, a long-time Gregg Williams pupil, also agreed to re-sign with the Saints. Initially joining the Saints in 2009, Prioleau had played for Williams in previous stints in Buffalo, Jacksonville, and Washington. A solid special teamer who plays in dime defensive packages, Prioleau has led the special teams in tackles for two straight seasons.
