Luxury automotive manufacturer Mercedes-Benz has purchased the naming rights to the Louisiana Superdome for the next 10 years.
The building will be known as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome beginning 20 days from now when the renovated Superdome hosts Monday Night Football on October 23.
The payments will offset incentive payments to the Saints from the state of Louisiana, which owns the 36-year old building. The naming rights deal will deliver the BCS Championship game in January, the NCAA Men's Final Four in April, and the NCAA Women's Final Four in 2013.
The building will of course host the Super Bowl XLIV after next season, the seventh time.
Naming rights for the Saints' home has been long rumored and a crucial part of any negotiations between the state and the Saints over incentives.
