Seventh round pick Greg Romeus, a defensive end from the University of Pittsburgh, has spent all his time since the lockout in the training room, working out the past few weeks two seats down from head coach Sean Payton.
Romeus this week began his first practices as a Saint.
"This starts his 21 day window," Sean Payton said on Wednesday, "he remains on the reserved/non-injury list until we decide to activate." Romeus has three weeks to prove he deserves a spot on the Saints' 53-man roster. If not, the Saints can placed him on season-ending injured reserve or release him.
After collegiate back and knee injuries, the Saints knew that Romeus would need a pro "redshirt" season to get healthy. Romeus of any draft pick would have benefited from an earlier end to the lockout.
