The Saints have cut T Ray Willis and promoted practice squad player Will Robinson to replace him as the backup to right tackle Zach Strief.
Robinson, 6'5, 297, has been on the Saints' practice squad since the beginning of September, and is three years out of San Diego State. He appeared in one game as a rookie with the Redskins when Washington's line was felled by injury, and went to camp with the Seahawks during this past shortened offseason.
Willis did not appear in a game for the Saints since he was signed to the 53-man roster two weeks ago. T Pat McQuistan has been the backup at offensive tackle since, and struggled mightily at times.
The release and retirement of Jon Stinchcomb, and the season-ending hip flexor injury to Charles Brown have left the Saints razor-thin at depth at offensive tackle.
