Spagnuolo To Interview

Hot commodity as a defensive coordinator, Steve Spagnuolo will reportedly interview with the Saints on Wednesday, January 18.

Spagnuolo interviewed with the Colts on Monday, also had drawn interest from the Falcons and Eagles.

The Falcons hired Mike Nolan to be their defensive coordinator, while the Eagles are looking for him to return.  Spagnuolo coached multiple positions for the Eagles from 1999-2006.   The Eagles may decide to fire defensive coordinator Juan Castillo.

Spagnuolo was the defensive coordinator for the New York Giants for two seasons in  2007-2008, including their Super Bowl XLII victory over the Patriots.

He was fired by the Rams on January 2 following a dismal, injury-ridden third season with the Rams, who finished 2-14.  One of Spagnuolo's two wins of course came against the Saints on October 30, the Rams' only home win of the year.  His defense shut out the Saints in the first half.

With an aggressive scheme and a history of improving 4-3 defenses, Spagnuolo seems a good fit as a replacement for Gregg Williams.
