Veteran DT Shaun Rogers' stint as a Saint will last only one season. Rogers signed on Thursday with the New York Giants.
Rogers, 33, who signed with the Saints before the lockout began in March 2011, has been an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Rogers started four games but appeared in all sixteen regular season games in 2011, and was the Saints' highest-rated defensive tackle according to the stats website Advanced NFL Statistics.
Rogers will play his 12th season with the Giants, who had a need at the position. The Saints signed DT Brodrick Bunkley to start aside Sedrick Ellis.
The other primary starter at defensive tackle for the Saints, Aubrayo Franklin, remains a free agent though he has visited with Atlanta and Seattle. Both Franklin and Rogers ranked ahead of Ellis.
The Saints are expected to draft defensive line heavily during this weekend's NFL draft.
