The Saints have confirmed their 18-man undrafted free agent class today, two days after the conclusion of the 2012 NFL Draft.
Kadarron Anderson, inside linebacker, Furman
6'0", 239, 4.87 40
Limited-speed inside linebacker was an FCS All-American with 111 tackles. Played 44 games and collected 372 total tackles on his career. A recent shoulder injury and a knee injury tanked his draft stock.
Malcolm Beyah, wide receiver, Middle Tennessee St
5'11 1/8", 200, 4.47 40
A recent domestic violence charge, which could be dropped pending 90 days good behavior, was a red flag for teams. Fast with big 10 1/4" hands, Beyah had 115 receptions and 14 TD's in four years for the MTSU.
Braylon Broughton, defensive end, TCU
6'4 1/4", 255, 4.56 40
Lost his starting job as a senior after starting the season, Broughton is a raw athlete with enormous wingspan. Mature at 25 years old and only playing the game since late in high school, Broughton has a lot to learn about the game but all the tools to be a successful edge rusher.
Jacob Byrne, tight end, Wisconsin
6'4", 266, 4.90 40
Experience special teamer and blocker with six recorded catches. Great size and intangibles can take the next step as a blocker.
Travaris Cadet, runningback/wide receiver/kick returner, Appalachian State
6'0", 213, 4.55 40
High school QB and all-around athlete. Smaller hands. Excellent intangibles and tough as nails, played runningback, receiver and returned kicks at App State in a spread offense. Without elite speed, needs to find a position in the NFL and learn the nuances fast.
Adrian "A.J." Davis, defensive back, Jacksonville State
5'11 1/4", 184, 4.44 40
Started playing football as a senior in high school and played at Jacksonville State. Started as a true freshman. Ran well at the Troy Pro Day. Needs refinement but has the tools.
Brian Folkerts, offensive tackle, Washburn
6'3 1/2", 303, 5.18 40
Pressed 225 355 times at his Pro Day at Kansas State. Experience player in MIAA Washburn, started at both tackle positions since he was a freshman. Very short arms, small hands will push him inside to guard.
Chris Givens, wide receiver, Miami (OH)
6'1 1/2", 209, 4.63 40
Tough, productive receiver in Miami OH scheme. 13 catches, 141 yards vs W Michigan as a senior. 2010 ankle injury, 2009 shoulder problem are red flags. Got a medical redshirt in 2009, now 23 years old. Not a burner, a possession-type receiver.
Jose Gumbs, safety, Monmouth
5'10", 210, 4.48 40
Experienced special teamer blocked three kicks as a senior, ran a 4.48 at Pro Day with a 41" vertical jump. Four year starter with 306 career tackles.
Kevin Hardy, wide receiver, Citadel
5'11 1/4", 188, 4.39 40
Champion long-jumper ran a 4.42 at Coastal Carolina's Pro Day. Only 19 career receptions in Citadel's triple option offense. Needs to learn the position from a pro skillset.
Dan Hoch, tackle/guard, Missouri
6'6 1/2", 330, 5.37 40
Towering three year starter at right tackle excellent size. Only a 27" vertical and 21 presses of 225 pounds shows limited athleticism. Good experience in a pass-oriented offense in front of Blaine Gabbert, but also good in the run game and helped Missou roll over a talented North Carolina team with 337 yards rushing in the 2011 Independence Bowl.
Stephen Johnson, inside linebacker, Temple
6'1 1/4", 232, 4.94 40
123 total tackles as a senior from a guy who walked onto the football team. Earned a scholarship after grinding on the scout team for two seasons and ended up starting and leading a defense. Had 16 tackles vs Army this season.
Jerico Nelson, strong safety/linebacker, Arkansas
5'9 1/4", 203, 4.56 40
Short but stout, former high school runningback in Destrehan, La., and played outside linebacker and safety for the Razorbacks. A marginal athlete with decent quickness, Nelson visited the Saints in mid-April. A monstrous hitter on Arkansas' defense, he was a collegiate overachiever. A few inches taller and Nelson would be drafted on day two instead of day three or undrafted.
Laron Scott, cornerback/kick returner, Georgia Southern
5'8 1/4", 183, 4.42 40
Returned a kick 95 yards for a touchdown against Alabama in November. Blocked two kicks as a senior. Nine picks in last two seasons. Started 40 games at cornerback for the young Ga. Southern football program.
Aderious Simmons, offensive tackle, Arizona State
6'6 1/4", 315, 5.40 40
New Orleans native did not play high school football. 2011 ankle sprain early in the season spoiled his senior season. Couldn't hold down starting job. Showed more promise as a junior but couldn't improve. Potential at right tackle.
Aaron Tevis, linebacker, Boise State
6'3", 239, 4.72 40
Great sized linebacker picked off 7 passes in his career mostly as a weakside linebacker for Boise State. Good wingspan for a defender. Also played fullback. Ankle injury slowed his season season.
Johnny Thomas, safety, Oklahoma State
5'10", 206, 4.56 40
Suspended for all of 2011, hasn't played since junior season in 2010. Still invited to combine, ran a 4.56 40 and a good 7.01 three-cone drill. 20 reps of 225. Showed promised as a good cover safety and a good hitter. Wasn't very instinctive before missing a season of football.
Tyrunn Walker, defensive lineman, Tulsa
6'3 1/2", 298, 4.91 40
Native of New Iberia, La., and went juco route to Tulsa. All Conf USA honors as a senior with eight sacks as a senior an 5.5 as a junior. Worked out with the Saints this offseason.
The Saints' draft class, the above undrafted rookies and others will be in attendance at the Saints' rookie minicamp May 11-13.
