The Saints have reduced their offseason roster from 90 to 75 per the league's cutdown deadline today. They'll carry that many to Tennessee with them as the team leaves early for their preseason finale, and cut down to 53 by Friday night.
Cuts today included veteran DT Remi Ayodele, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Saints in 2009 but was buried on the depth chart in his second tour with the Saints.
The Saints also terminated the contract of QB Luke McCown, who was battling Sean Canfield for playing time but not a roster spot - Canfield is expected to be cut Friday night and the Saints will carry only two quarterbacks, Drew Brees and Chase Daniel.
The Saints waived undrafted rookies LB Aaron Tevis, OL Brian Folkerts, TE Jake Byrne, S Johnny Thomas, DE Donavan Robinson, and WR's Derek Moye and Kevin Hardy.
The Saints also waived WR Marques Clark, who was a feel-good story for the Saints this offseason but the longest of longshots, having not played football in six years.
The remaining waivers were: G Paul Fenaroli, T Hutch Eckerson, CB Kamaal McIlwain, DT Swanson Miller and DB Cord Parks.
The Saints will leave today after their practice and fly to Cincinnati to avoid Hurricane Isaac. The team will practice at Paul Brown Stadium on Tuesday before travelling to Tennessee for the Thursday night preseason finale, in which few starters are expected to play.
