Saints Head to Foxboro For Joint Practices

The Saints are in Foxboro, Massachusetts for two days of joint practices with the New England Patriots before the two teams play an exhibition game at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.

The two teams also held joint practices together in Foxboro before their preseason matchup in 2010.

The Saints lost RB Lynell Hamilton to a season-ending ACL tear during those practices, when he was primed to be the Saints' third runningback in the rotation behind Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush.  An unknown undrafted rookie Chris Ivory emerged from that opportunity.

Before the practices, Saints owner Tom Benson used his private plane to fly Joe Vitt, Steve Spagnuolo, Mickey Loomis and Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to Philadelphia for the funeral tomorrow of Garrett Reid, son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid.

The Saints signed undrafted rookie WR Kevin Hardy and veteran LB Ramon Humber.  Hardy was with the Saints in the offseason after joining the team after the draft, but was cut shortly before training camp.  Humber appeared in 16 regular season games for the Saints the past one and a half seasons, including three starts last season.

To make room, the Saints cut undrafted rookie CB/PR Laron Scott, who misjudged a punt on Sunday night, and waived G Scott Winnewisser with an injury settlement.
