5/3 Rang Review: Don't miss Rob "Boomer" Rang's Saints draft review, another NOPF exclusive.

4/29 UDFA's: The Saints are signing undrafted free agents and NOPF will post them as news breaks. An official announcement does not usually come until later this week.

4/29 NOPF's Draft Review: Read NOPF's review of the seven-man Saints 2007 Draft class.

4/29 Rd 7: The Saints took a big, hard-hitting inside linebacker to finish off the draft in Tennessee LB Marvin Mitchell.

4/29 Rd 5: The Saints took another tiny-school prospect in Wingate CB David Jones, who has experience as a kick returner.

4/29 Rd 4b: The Saints took another tiny-school offensive lineman in Towson G/T Jermon Bushrod.

4/29 Rd 4a: The Saints moved up to select Ohio State RB Antonio Smith.

4/29 Trade In The Fourth: The Saints traded up to 107th overall early in the fourth round, swapping picks with Houston. The Saints gave up their first fourth round pick 123rd and their own fifth round pick 163rd for the 107th.

4/28 Rd 3b: With their second third round pick and likely their final pick of Day One, the Saints took Akron G Andy Alleman.

4/28 Round Three Anomaly: An amazing run of receivers in round three. Starting at pick 73 with Houston, eight straight receivers rolled off the board, including one tight end.

4/28 Rd 3a: Sleeper cornerback Usama Young from Kent State is a very promising, intelligent prospect who needs to move into DB coach Tom Hayes' brain and hit the weight room.

4/28 Trade: The Saints traded out of the #58 spot near the end of the second round and Detroit took Hawaii DE Ikaika Alma-Francis. The Saints received the 66th overall pick, the second in the third round, and the 145th overall pick, the eighth pick in the 5th round. As they've done before, the Saints have moved out of a pick by eight spots and picked up an extra day two pick.

4/28 Blog: Don't miss the NOPF's first round draft blog. It's fully of witty analysis and bits of knowledge from a brutally long first round.

4/28 Rd 1: The Saints have drafted Tennessee WR Robert Meachem with their first round pick. Meachem, 6'2, 215 pounds is fast, strong and has great hands.

4/27 Rang: Saints-Only Mock Day One: Rob "Boomer" Rang's Saints Mock for Day One forsees a Hurricane from Miami arriving in New Orleans.

4/26 Mock Draft 5.0: Full seven round projection for the Saints forsees another Trojan heading for New Orleans.

4/26 Grant's Deal: A new contract signed by DE Charles Grant reduces the need for the Saints to take a high-round defensive end on Saturday.

4/26 Saint David: The Saints have successfully stolen CB Jason David from the Colts by signing him to a restricted free agent offer sheet that Indianapolis could not afford to match. The Saints surrender their fourth round pick, the 126th overall. The Saints now have seven draft picks, including two fourth rounders and no sixth round pick.

4/25 More Visits: Published and online continue to fill us in on the Saints' private visits, including Hawaii DE Ikaika Alama-Francis.

4/24 Notes: Check out NOPF's recent notes column with some strategic and historical bits about the NFL Draft.

4/24 More Visits: Published and online reports indicate Fresno State CB Marcus McCauley, a possible first or second round pick, has visited with the Saints. So has Arkansas S Randy Kelly, Akron OL Andy Alleman and Central Michigan OL Joe Staley. Staley is a possible first round pick.

4/24 Sleeper Visit: Representatives of the Saints were among teams at Kent State to work out sleeper CB Usama Young, who wasn't invited to the combine and a prospect with unbelievable measurables: a close to 4.3 40 and a 43-inch vertical. Suddently, the 5'11, 190 pound four-year starter for Kent State is very attractive.

4/23 Strategy: The Saints are not bound to any one position. If their top two or three at virtually any position on the depth chart is available, that will be the pick.

4/23 More Visits: Published and online reports indicate the Saints have met with Tennessee WR Robert Meachem, Arizona State TE Zach Miller and UCF WR Mike Walker.

4/22 Defensive Ends: Rob Rang's first day DE prospects of the NFL Draft is content you'll see only at NOPF. You can read everything Rang has at www.nfldraftscout.com.

4/19 David for Fourth: The Saints are set to lose their fourth round pick, the 126th overall, if the Colts decline to match their offer sheet for starting CB Jason David.

4/17 Visits: The Saints have met with UNLV CB Eric Wright, LSU K Chris Jackson, Arizona State TE Zach Miller, and Stanford QB Trent Edwards. They also visited with Penn State MLB Paul Posluszny "for a couple days", according to the USA Today.

4/15 Tight Ends: Rob Rang's first day TE prospects of the NFL Draft is content you'll see only at NOPF. You can read everything Rang has at www.nfldraftscout.com.

4/15 Mock Draft 4.0: Full seven round projection for the Saints forsees a Volunteer, a Gamecock, and an member of the Crimson Tide on day one.

4/13 Wright To Visit: Online reports indicate that UNLV CB Eric Wright will visit with the Saints before the draft. Wright is a former USC Trojan who transferred.

4/9 Private Visit: The Saints may not disclose all their draft prospect private visits, but they are known to be meeting with Stanford QB Trent Edwards, increasing speculation that the Saints will be targeting a developmental prospect in the middle rounds. Friend of NOPF, Yahoo's John Murphy reported this.

4/8 Defensive Tackles: Rob Rang's first day defensive tackle prospects of the NFL Draft is content you'll see only at NOPF. You can read everything Rang has at www.nfldraftscout.com.

4/3 Finding Kicker: The Saints have traded their sixth round draft pick to Miami for K Olindo Mare. The saints now have eight picks in the draft, including three fourth round picks.

3/31 Looking Kicker: The Saints met with University of Arizona K Nick Folk during the Senior Bowl, according to online reports. It is entirely possible that the team replaces John Carney for the 2007 season.

3/30 Cornerbacks: Rob Rang's first day cornerback prospects of the NFL Draft is content you'll see only at NOPF. You can read everything Rang has at www.nfldraftscout.com.

3/29 Mock Draft 3.0: Full seven round projection for the Saints forsees a Longhorn, a Terp and a Blue Hen on Day One.

3/28 Hawaii Pro Day: Kenny Patton drew special attention from the Saints at the Warriors' Pro Day. The 6'0, 184 pound receiver posted an outlandish 41.5" vertical leap and a 4.5 forty.

3/17 Pitt Pro Day: Assistant coaches for the Saints were present at the Pitt Panthers Pro Day where CB Darrelle Revis ran a surprising 4.38 average 40 yard day. That time may change the way scouts will perceive his onfield performance and pushes Revis into the first round.

3/14 LSU Pro Day: Head coach Sean Payton was in attendance for LSU's Pro Day today. Top targets for the Saints from LSU are the two receivers: Dwayne Bowe and Craig Davis, both of who ran in the 4.40 range today. Perhaps the biggest surprise from the LSU Pro Day was DB Daniel Francis, 5'10 1/2, 195 pounds, who ran a 4.41 with a 36.5" vertical.

3/11 Stallworth Trade: A condition of the Donte Stallworth trade to Philadelphia was that if the Eagles signed the receiver to a new contract, the fourth round pick would escalate to the Eagles' third round pick. Stallworth signed in New England today, sealing the deal as a fourth rounder.

3/9 NOPF Mock Draft v2.0: Full seven round projection has Saints raid the SEC.

3/2 Gandy Trade: The Saints have received the Falcons' 7th round pick, the 10th pick of the round, a condition of the Wayne Gandy trade.

2/10 NOPF Mock Draft v1.0: NOPF's first mock draft of the 2007 draft season is complete.

2/9 Louisiana Prospects: Rob "Boomer" Rang of NFL Draft Scout.com, a long time friend of NOPF, has released exclusively to NOPF his list of Louisiana pro prospects, including their vitals stats. Coming soon from Rang is a ranking of top local prospects with his own scouting analysis, exclusive to NOPF.

2/8 Mock Fever: John Murphy of Yahoo.com, and a friend of NOPF, wrote today in his mock draft that the Saints will take Purdue DE/OLB Anthony Spencer with their first round pick. The 6'3, 261 pound pass rusher had 10.5 sacks, 93 tackles and five forced fumbles as a senior, and we know that the current Saints scouting staff knows their way to Purdue. The Saints drafted Boilermaker DE Rob Ninkovich and signed three undrafted rookies from Purdue: CB Ray Williams, LB Bobby Iwuchukwu, and DT Brandon Villarreal.

1/27 Senior Bowl: John Murphy of Yahoo.com, and a friend of NOPF, says the Saints were interested in Ole Miss LB Patrick Willis at the Senior Bowl.

1/19 Draft Pick Set: The Saints will draft 27th overall in April following Sunday's loss to the Bears.

1/19 Underclassmen: The official list of underclassmen, 40 in all, is here.

1/18 Stallworth: Apparently, the Eagles do want to re-sign WR Donte Stallworth to a new contract, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer. If they do, the fourth round draft pick the Saints received from the Eagles turns into a fourth round pick.

1/17 Trades: The Saints traded RB Michael Bennett to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 4th round pick. The Saints traded WR Donte Stallworth to the Philadelphia Eagles for LB Marc Simoneau and a 4th round pick, which could escalate to a 3rd round pick if Stallworth signs a long-term deal. The Saints traded T Wayne Gandy to the Atlanta Falcons for S Bryan Scott and an as-yet undisclosed conditional draft pick.

1/17 Compensatory Picks: The Saints are likely in line for some sort of compensatory pick(s) this year. These picks, awarded to teams based on a formula of the net loss of free agents in a given offseason. Picks are announced in early April.
