Week 5 NFL-E Action

The Saints saw five of their players, not including a standout punter, start for the respective NFL Europe teams.

The Rhein Fire are starting two Saints-allocated wide receivers, Jimmy Robinson and Onome Ojo, but aren't using them much. Robinson caught only one ball for 22 yards and for the second straight week, Ojo was held without a catch. Fire QB Tee Martin completed only six passes this week after completing only eight the week before.

Nevertheless the Fire beat the previously undefeated Frankfurt Galaxy on the strength three touchdowns and 183 rushing yards from 49ers-allocated RB Jamal Robertson.

Also for the Fire, P Dirk Johnson continued his standout performance with six punts for 37.7 yards on average, including one downed inside the 20-yard line. Johnson is currently second in NFL-E with an impressive 43.8 yard average, including a 67-yarder, eight downed inside the 20-yard line and no blocks.

For Frankfurt, Saints allocated G Jeff Chase saw some action on the offensive line.

DE Jermaine Miles started for the Amsterdam Admirals at left defensive end but did not register a tackle. With three sacks in five games he remains tied for second in the league in sacks.

For the Berlin Thunder, DB Tim Carter started at free safety and LB Jonathan Jackson started at strong-side linebacker. It was Jackson's first start of the season, but he did not register any tackles. Carter, on the other hand, led the team in tackles with seven, four solo.
