For the first time this season, the Saints were reminded of last year's training camp when rain wreaked havoc on the team's practice rhythm and morale.
The Saints have had one practice reduced to a walk through because of rain already, but Thursday's single practice of the day was the first to be moved indoors.
While a new indoor facility will be in place new year for the Saints in their Metairie headquarters, and a large indoor facility in Thibodaux could be in the works soon, the Saints are for now forced to use an insufficiently small gymnasium on the campus of Nicholls State University. The building is not long or wide enough to host a practice, so the Saints are reduced to running thorough walk-throughs on the basketball courts.
It was to be the Saints' final full-pads practice before their preseason opener against the Houston Texans Saturday night.
