Northwestern G/T Zach Strief - 6'7 1/2", 350, 5.42
Massive prospect from Northwestern was a dominating collegiate tackle but may go inside in the NFL where his subpar mobility wouldn't expose him. Technically raw for the guard position but physically will end up as a run blocking guard or right tackle in the NFL. We'll see where the Saints try him out. Great effective strength on the field but pressed 225 pound only 19 times at the combine, a serious disappointment. Lumbers down field with inefficient speed and lacks agility to create down field for the runner. Still, you can't teach his size and he is very experienced. Excelled, even in Northwestern's spread offense.
Considered one of the best Big 10 lineman, and started every game since the end of the 2002 season, 40 straight games. Earned All-American honors. Missed some time with an ankle injury in spring 2005.
