Saints add LB Humber; drop QB Canfield

The Saints released third string QB Sean Canfield, who enjoyed a brief one-game stay on the 53-man roster. New Orleans signed in his place LB Ramon Humber, a former Indianapolis Colt who was released from injury reserve with a hand injury.

Humber, 23, 5'11, 230, is two years out of North Dakota State, and started two games for the Colts as an undrafted rookie last year.

Humber played in Super Bowl XLIV against the Saints.  He was lost after two games in the 2010 season after a big preseason when he started two games, including a nine-tackle performance against the Bengals.

Payton on Humber: “He’s a guy that can run. He’s a guy that played last year for Indianapolis predominantly on all of their special teams. He was a four core special teams player for them and that was the one thing that we saw when we evaluated him.”

He will help replace the loss of second year LB Stanley Arnoux, lost last week to an Achilles injury.  Reserve LB Anthony Waters has also been limited in practice because of an ankle injury.

Other Saints-related moves: FB Jason McKie, a training camp veteran with the Saints, has signed with the Ravens... RB DeShawn Wynn, another former Saint, has signed in San Francisco...
