Saints ink RB Joique Bell

To replace Pierre Thomas on the active roster, the Saints plucked Joique Bell off of the Eagles' practice squad.

Bell, 5'11, 220, an undrafted rookie, has already made stops around the league on rosters or practice squads in Buffalo, Indianapolis and Philadelphia twice.

He was awarded the Harlon Hill Trophy winner for his senior season at Wayne State in 2009, which goes the best Division II player. Fitting the mold as a power back because of his hard-hitting style, Bell went to Wayne State in Detroit, MI because he was recruited by bigger schools including Michigan as a defensive back.

Bell lacks breakaway speed but is a solid athlete, and tossed four touchdowns among his 100 as a collegian.

Because he was signed off a practice squad, Bell must stay on the Saints' roster through the end of the season.

Bell's first name is pronounced Joyk, rhyming with joy.

Bell wrote about the signing today on the social media site Twitter: "Part of that Who Dat Nation...... Who Dat!!!!!"
